Madhuri dixit Madhuri dixit Indian actress who is famous for her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun (Beta Saajan) and Beta Saajan is among the most popular Indian actors. The actress was initially famous for her role in Tezaab from the 1980s where she co-starred with the veteran actor Anil Koopor. Then, she starred alongside Aamir in Dil. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance at an early age. She ventured into acting as a youngster and struggled through a couple of years since most of her initial films were flops. However, she eventually achieved success and became one of the top actresses within the Indian film business. Following her marriage she had a break in her career before re-entering the film industry. Recently, she had an integral character in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the challenges faced by women in India. Dixit was nominated for the fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit. It is India's fourth highest civil honor. Her fame is based on her charitable work as well.
